President’s Message July 2025

Kenneth N. Wilson, President, NACA

Greetings to all members of the National Association of County Administrators (NACA). I hope everyone is having a great summer and had a great Independence Day. I am providing my last monthly message as NACA President as it’s time to pass the torch to Betsy Keller, Chief Administrator, El Paso County Texas, I know she will be an excellent job of leading this fine organization during her tenure as our President. I have been pleased to lead this organization for the past two years. I have learned so much, and it has been a rewarding professional experience.

As you know, NACA provides us with a valuable network of professionals who have committed to public service. With them, we can share insights on county-specific management challenges and opportunities.

NACA encourages professional excellence to improve the management of county government. Our members are county administrators & managers from across the country, and many are members of the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) and their counties belong to the National Association of Counties (NACo).

For information on NACA’s activities, please check the NACA website at or follow us on LinkedIn.

June 16th NACA/NACo Webinar and NACA Members-Only Discussion

I want to thank everyone who participated in our first joint webinar with the National Association of Counties (NACo) on June 16th, where we discussed the Impacts of Federal Action on Local Jurisdictions. For the first time, following the webinar, we held a members-only discussion with the speakers. It was an excellent conversation. If you missed the live webinar, the recording is available.

2025 NACo Annual Conference, July 11-14

We look forward to seeing NACA members at the NACo Annual Conference in Philadelphia. Thank you to our Institutional Partner sponsor, MissionSquare Retirement, for supporting our idea exchanges and to OPTERRA Energy Services for hosting the NACA Reception on July 12th. Be sure to review our schedule of NACA events and I hope to see you there.

2025 NACo Achievement Awards

I want to congratulate all of the winners of the 2025 NACo Achievement Awards, especially these NACA member communities:

  • El Paso County, TX: El Paso County Healing Garden

  • Harris County, TX: Protecting the Prairie: Armand Bayou Conservation Project

  • Pasquotank County, NC: EMS Tiered Response

  • Montgomery County, OH: Reducing Substance Use and Overdoses Across the Continuum of Care

  • Riverside County, CA: RivCoParks: Veterans’ Mental Health

Excellence in public service should be celebrated often because it does matter.

Thank You

I very much value every member of this organization, so please feel free to contact me with any ideas on how to make NACA a more valuable resource for you or how we can promote your good work. County government provides so many critical and essential services, so let’s all promote our work to the fullest extent possible!

Thanks for your continued support. I look forward to seeing you all this fall at the 2025 ICMA Annual Conference, which will be held October 25-29 in Tampa/Hillsborough County, Florida.

Stay safe and well.

Yours Truly,
Kenneth N. Wilson, MPA, CTA, ECI
